Hi all, this question is very specific to the ThermalTake Core G21 which has been reviwed at Tom's Harware. If you are looking for a video review, its here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82bJwkRmh70&t=275s. It can take either 3 120 mm or 2 140 mm intake fans.

I noticed that with the front cover off, the case frame has 3 slots, seperated by metal strips which would be great for the 3 120 mm fans.

It also fits 2 140 mm fans, but am, worried as to how they would fit. Would the 3 metal strips imped airflow and create turbulence ? Am I worrying about nothing ?

Hope someone has some advice as I do like the case and am planning on hopefully getting it.

Thanks ....

Thanks Jack. Would you know if 2 140MM fans on a frame where the seperating metal strips are in the middle of the actual fans themselves (vs allowing a clear path) , would imped fan flow and reduce efficiency ?

Yes it would decrease efficiency, but nothing noticeable or for you to be worried about.

Not without seeing them in place .... or knowing what was behind the strip. For example, if you were to dremel the strip away and there's a HD sitting behind it, then there would be no significant impact.

However, if nothing behind it and its the only thing in the way.

Personally, id go with the Phanteks Eclipse P400 which gets superb reviews and is the same price ($69). fan mounts are slotted so you can slide up and down to miss what you want to miss

Best case for $89

And for $10 more, you can get it w/ tempered glass

I was thinking about that, but being in Canada, the prices are different.

The Core G21 is $89.95 + free shipping + tax
The Phanteks one, with tempered glass is $109.95 + $9.95 shipping from Newegg + tax. Prices are even higher on Amazon Canada.

Re strips, yes, there is nothing behind them as the HD is located elsewhere, so a big empty space. Gamer Nexus did a review on Termaltake one, and apparently as long as you remove the 2nd filter (there are 2 filters in the front), has a great airflow mesh front .

I have a choice of 3 Deepcool Garmerstorm Red LED 120 MM fans or 2 140MM (no led) Arctic fans or 2 140 mm Bitfenix Spectre (Red LEDs). I do have some light strips that I can put in for the colour (Red is my theme) if I go with thee Arctic ones.

I was going for the 140 mm ones till I saw a diagram of the 2 strips (wished they had followed the phantecks template) and saw they would be in the middle of the fans. Threw my plans off kilter. As you said, if I do get it, I can always dremel them away if I don't like the cooling.
