i have a thermalright 120 peerless assassin cpu cooler and 4 ram sticks, in order to leave more space for ram i am thinking of placing the 2nd cooler's fan on the backside rather than the ram side so my question is which way should i place it ? exhaust or intake? by case has the back fan set to exhaust

Solution
Back side would work if it directed the airflow towards the rear like the middle fan.
Or, if your case permits, raise the front fan high enough to clear the ram.
Not sure I understand your description, but............

If you mean you are putting a second fan on the back side of your CPU cooler, I'd have it blowing toward the back of the case, toward the case exhaust fan...rather than blowing toward the front of the case.

So, all fans are trying to move air in one direction...front to rear, toward the back of the PC.

This is the best solution, if possible, according to various posts around the Internet, and I followed this advice for my build with Thermaltake Versa H17 that has only 1 mm of clearance margin left with the Peerless Assassin SE. Depending on your case size and RAM height, you may have enough clearance, more than what the case manufacturer claims. I have a small chassis, but had no problem raising the fan above the cooler block.

If you really have no choice but to move the fan from RAM facing to rear, I think you should not make it blow toward the cooling block, since it will interfere with the exhaust fan air flow and all other air flow. If the fan blow toward the exhaust fan, not sure it will help much. This means that the fan pulls air from the cooling block, which I suspect less effective. However, I'm not an expert in aerodynamics/thermodynamics so I might be wrong. Still, one thing I'm sure is that raising the first fan where it is supposed be is the best solution in your case.

My Case is an nzxt 710i and the ram is this https://www.amazon.com/CORSAIR-Veng...77963519&sprefix=corsair+rgb+r,aps,251&sr=8-1 I suppose that there would be enough room for me to push the front fan up enough to make room for the ram
