Hello,

I’m working on my first build and wanted to gather advice on how the fans should be hooked up to my Mobo to function optimally.

My confusion comes from the Kraken instruction manual. It says to plug it's 3-pin cable into the 4-pin CPU_Power header.
I’ve read that this would be CPU_Fan1 header, but dose it need to be CPU_Fan1? Can it be plugged into CPU_Fan2?

Doing so would allow me to connect my front intake fans via CPU_Fan1 and take advantage of PWR.

Fans:
2 front intake fans (Enermax Twister Pressure)
1 rear exhaust fan (Phanteks PH-F140MP)
1 top Kraken x61 unit (w/ two exhaust fans)

All fans are 4-pin PWR.

Mobo: Asrock x99 Extreme4 (2 cpu_fan connectors (1x 4-pin, 1x 3-pin), and 3 chassis_fan connectors (1x 4-pin, 2x 3-pin))

I’m thinking:

Kraken x61 connected via sata & usb 2.0 header and it’s 3-pin connector to CPU_Fan2 header (3-pin header)
2 front intake fans into CPU_Fan1 header via splitter (4-pin header)
1 rear exhaust fan into Cha_Fan1 (4-pin header)

Would this work correctly?

Thank you for your knowledge!

Will your setup work? Yes.

Will it work correctly? No.

In your setup, your 2x front fans would be controlled by the CPU temperature.

Here's how the correct setup would be:
CPU_FAN1 (4-pin) - NZXT pump
CPU_FAN2 (3-pin) - empty
SYS_FAN1 (4-pin) - 2x Enermax fans with Y-splitter
SYS_FAN2 (3-pin) - Phanteks fan
SYS_FAN3 (3-pin) - empty

CPU_FAN headers are meant only for CPU cooling fans and not for case fans. For case fans, you have SYS_FAN headers.
