Fan Speed Not Changing At All!

Hello experts!

I've got a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO on my AMD FX 6300 and I've noticed that the fan speed does not change at all under/over load. I've tried Speedfan and though the fan speed does change with the program, I don't want to use it as it is very glitchy and just not-so-good for me. I have connected the fan in the correct spot on the motherboard (Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P) so I'm not sure why this is happening. Shouldn't Windows (Windows 8.1) be automatically changing the fan's speed according to the CPU's temperature?

I have overclocked my CPU but the temps get really high (55C+) without Speedfan so I am running my CPU at stock speeds 🙁

Windows doesn't have anything to do with any of your fan speeds. Those are controlled by your mobo (if they're plugged into the mobo) either through your BIOS settings or fan control software like SpeedFan. The 212 comes with a PWM fan, so if you've got it plugged into the 4pin CPU fan header, it should be controlling the fan speed automatically based on a default setting or user-selected profile.

55C is actually not very hot - 85C isn't unusual when stress testing CPUs. It's possible that the CPU isn't getting hot enough to trigger the default fan profile ramp-up points if it's a pretty liberal profile or it's set to a silent mode. I would go into BIOS and see what the CPU fan header settings look like and change them to something more aggressive if it gives you the option.
