I have a radeon 7870 oc with 2 fans and an fx 6300 with stock cooler
I have 3 case fans and they are at:
1220rpm
1350rpm
and 3800rpm
at idle my fans are at 20-30 degreesC
its actually quite loud I want to turn them down but should I?
Thanks :)

Solution
The loud one is the cpu cooler(amd stock fans use brute force to cool). It is designed to adjust to the temperatures in the case and the cpu temp.

If you have room for it, a coolermaster 212 would be much more quiet.

Ensure your bios has its fan control(q-fan/smart fan/ect) ON and the board will deal with fan speeds, but the stock cooler can spin MUCH faster, so it may already be on.

eh really? i get 1000 rpm average on two chassis and stock i5 fan. same temps as well ^

For real.

I mean my old i5 750 is watching video at 30-35 with a fan speed of 620(Geminii S). it all depends on the cpu.

Intel's stock coolers can get "loud" under heavy loads, but AMDs are just louder.

AMD's stock coolers also have a thermal probe built in the changes the speed(makes auto fan control more challenging.)

If the board has fan control off, it would run faster as well(3800 at idle somewhat high, but in the 2000's depending on the case).

ah right cool

AM3 and AM3+ take the same coolers
(In fact I think all the way back to 939 [for single core athlon 64's] takes the same coolers). The 754 ones had only 2 holes so did not work.

Please ensure that your case can actually fit this cooler it is about 160mm(6.3 inches) tall.
