This Christmas I'm building my first computer with a i5-6600k and a MSI r9 390, and to avoid any overheating problems I am going to be using 4 fans to ensure good airflow. However, I do have a few questions about tackling this because I am using a MSI Z170A PC MATE motherboard and there are only three 4-pin case fan headers. If I use a fan splitter can I still control fan speed? If yes, can I assign different speeds to each fan after using the splitter, or will motherboard only be able to assign one fan speed per header. Furthermore, I don't think this will be an issue but I might as well mention it just encase. One of my fans is a AF140 while the rest of them are AF140L; will this be a problem in any way? Last, does anyone have a recommendation on which fan splitter to buy?
As a side note there are two 4-pin CPU fan headers. Could I use one of those as an outlet for a case fan?
