Someone has been telling me about a special type of PC case known as a chimney-effect case, which uses natural convection flow to cool the computer. (This is similar in principle to the fanless cube that Apple built several years ago.)

Just as a wood stove does not need a fan to move hot smoke up the chimney, so too does this type of case not need fans to move heat up and away from the CPU, drives, video chip, etc.

However my searches for a fanless chimney-effect case are not turning up anything. Anyone know where I might be able to find them?

you could put a fan in the top of your case  It wouldnt have to be loud or fast to be useuful.
