Hi all :)
I am considering to upgrade my rig, with the AMD FC-9590 CPU, and as late as an hours time ago, I discovered fanless cpu fans. And since I know pretty much nothing about fanless CPU coolers, I would like to hear, what you all think would be the best solution for the mentioned CPU.
I hardly think, that I will overclocking the CPU anytime soon.
My mb is an Asus 990FX Sabertooth r2.0

A fan cooler is going to be much more effective at maintaining low temperatures. If you have only used the stock cooler with its noisy high speed fan, I think you would be pleasantly surprised at how quiet a good fan cooled aftermarket cooler can be. The big advantage for most of us is quieter temps.

Unless you have a particular need for absolute silence, I think a good fan cooled CPU cooler will offer better performance and better value.

Your CPU is more than 200 W TDP - meaning that NO fanless cooler will be enough. The biggest one, NoFan cr-100a supports up to 100W. Your CPU is a crazy inefficient monster, and needs a really powerfull cooler, like the NH-d15.
Furthermore, the NH-D15 WILL be quiet and 99% SILENT at idle 🙂

BTW, why not consider a i7-4790k? Even though the AMD is 5.0 Ghz, the Intel's single core performance faster. Even most multithreaded tasks is eqaul or sometimes faster with the 4790k's hyperthreading. And that is at ~80 W ;-)

I have owned that cpu and highly recommend not getting it unless you are putting it under water also if your mobo is not top of the line you will be disappointed what is the rest of your build and definatly do not buy anything fan less for that at min I would want a noctua d15 or a high quality aio but be very certain that your vrms have good airflow because they will be hot feeding that cpu

Knowing how hot an FX-9590 runs and how much power it draws, I HIGHLY advise against trying to use a fanless cooler on the your processor. If anything, I'd suggest a water cooler but that isn't a really a quiet solution. Why are you going with 9590? What's your current processor? An Fx8350 should honestly be just fine or better yet you could go with an i5 processor from Intel.

none for the 9590...you cant have that and quiet lol the noctua would probably be the best you will get but make sure your mobo gets enough airflow or you will have nothing but trouble, but I really dont find aio coolers to be loud especially if you get a 280 rad and run the fans a bit slower but that depends on if you have the room for it but the noise level you consider loud will be different than mine

space is not an issue. I was actually, before I saw fanless coolers, considering the Nzxt kraken x60 - but is that as good as Nzxt says it is? Or would I be better off with another?

that would be a good cooler, but useing and aio takes the fans away from the vrms on the mobo, you have a great board for that cpu but the only way I got mine to play nice was to put my crosshair v formula z under water too so I would look for a way to actively cool the board with at the min a fan close to the vrms
