Hi everyone,
I have an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 on my Windows PC. I've had it for the past few years and it always worked great.
Today I noticed for the first time that fans don't start automatically anymore when temperature rises. They used to.
I was playing a graphics-intensive game, and the GPU crashed at some point (one monitor just went gray, the second one was full of glitches).
I restarted the PC and opened HWMonitor. There I read that the temperature was near 70°C , but the fans weren't spinning at all.
It was only when I opened Afterburner that the fans started working again. I closed Afterburner, the fans stopped. I reopened Afterburner, the fans started working again.
Then I checked with FurMark. Same thing. The temperature was rising dangerously but the fans didn't work until I opened Afterburner.
I updated the driver to 516.94 and restarted the benchmark. Same thing again.
I also spent half an hour googling for similar problems with the driver version I had (516.59) but didn't find anything.
Is that a simple driver problem or is my GPU going bad?
