Alright its about that time of year when I want to upgrade, and the most urgent thing that I can think of is my bloody loud ass fans. Yes, last year I built a new system and put a Volcano 7+ into my system despite the protesting of several Tom's members. Well I think I've learned my lesson, because while the noise is bareable I can't sleep in the same room as my computer. Also I simply bought a bunch of cheap case fans from the store. So my problem: I need 4 case fans and 1 cpu fan for a resonable price. I would like to take my noice down a few levels, but not at any damage to my bank account. Any help is appreciated

Rig:
XP Barton 2500+, A7N8X- Deluxe, 1GB OCZ pc3200 (2.5-3-3-7)
Volcano 7+ with OCZ ultra II paste, XP professional, ATI 9600 pro
Antec 400W w/ 4 case fans installed. [No Bragging Here]

Mmmm..you can get Volcano 11+ at newegg for $25 + $4s/h. It has a controler dealio on it from which you can set the fan speed[as queit as 18db all the way up to 48db]. And then just search for case fans on newegg and read the reviews.

Case fan controllers I think might be the best way to go. I have found that the simple ones (i.e. just a fan control) work just fine if you have some software to monitor your heat. $20 US dollars spent on one of those I think would be cheaper than getting new fans, and for the most part they work pretty well. They keep my five case fans pretty quiet. They even make Tornados half-way quiet.

I keep on hearing about a trick where you switch the 12 volt and 5 volt lines of the fans to make them run on 7 volts, but you will have to ask someone else about that. That will only cost you a little time if you do it right.

As for buying new fans I have heard that Pabst are good but a little pricey and Panaflo are good and a little cheaper.
