The temperatures are stable, the fans keep going from 2500 rpm to 4500 and back every few seconds.

GTX 2080 Ti FE 85c load
i7 8700k @ 5 ghz 50-60c load

Okay, that's a very good high quality PSU. No worries using this model. I just wanted to rule out the PSU. Have you tried doing a CLEAN re-install of the GPU drivers, as well as any overclocking tool like MSI AB, PrecisionX, GPU tweak etc. ?

I presume you are using Windows 10 OS ?

Apparently the temp sensing mechanism has a fixed threshold, say less than 60c, 2500. More than 60c, 4500. A nicer way to do it would be a built-in hysteresis, allows a gray area say 5c where fan stays put. Yes am throwing you lots of jargons.

If u can play with the fan's curve, that's what you should do.

Windows 10 , I've been talking with Nvidia support, they gave me a beta driver to rule out driver issues. I've set my cpu to stock, changed the monitor refresh rate. Waiting for their next reply. I'll try uninstalling Afterburner and tweaking the fan curve.

Today it's working again, no fan issues.

It's started again, all my games now.

After removing the side panel the temperature dropped and no more fan issue.
