Fans keep spinning faster and louder.

When ever I turn on my OLD computer, after a while the fans would start spinning faster and louder. I'm worried. My CPU has some pins bent but I fixed it. It might be the problem. And I also think the problem is that my CPU doesn't have enough Thermal Paste so it's over heating. Can someone tell me whats the problem.

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 x2 4200+

Original Computer: HP Pavilion a6000n

You don't need to apply a lot of thermal paste; apply just enough to fill the voids. If the HSF was removed, then the thermal paste has to be replaced.
