Question Fans on Gigabyte 3060 Ti keep starting and stopping ?

I'm a bit stuck, I've had this 3060ti GPU for maybe 6 months and kept hearing an odd sound from my case since about this time. Finally identified it was the GPU fans turning on, except they sort of pulse on and off by default.

I can resolve this by opening the Aorus Engine software associated with this card because I have the fan curve set to default to always on in low speed, until temp will ramp it up. The issue is that although I've set this as the applied fan curve, each windows start up goes back to the old on and off pulsing. To stop, I have to open the software. additionally it always asks if I want to update the firmware, but if I click yes, it just times out. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling a fresh version, but didn't help.

I'm honestly just not that knowledgeable on bios updates when it comes to this card and I don't want to risk anything by doing anything too complicated on my own. Does anyone have any ideas or another thread related? thanks

You MUST leave the fan control software running in order for it, ANY of them, for every card vendors tweak software utility that incorporates fan controls, to continue controlling the fans at whatever curve you've assigned. Otherwise, most all cards these days, and for a while now, have a zero RPM mode where the fans will shut off and only come on when temps require it. There is no getting around this. If you want to keep them running, even just at a very minimal speed which is what I do, then you must only minimize your fan control software, not close it, and in it's options set it to start with Windows so that as soon as you begin loading drivers and startup routines after POST it will automatically begin running the fans.

So basically, you either configure your GPU tweak utility to start with Windows and you leave it open in the system tray, at ALL times, or you deal with the on and off of the fans. There are no other alternatives.

Do you have any other tweak oc tools installed like MSI afterburner?

Which exact GPU model version is it? 3060TI is build in various models from gigabyte
firmware updating of a GPU is not that of a problem, you only have to get the correct update for your GPU model first
most likely by firmware the Aorus Engine software wants to update the RGB chip

eventually you can update your BIOS of the card
which version is installed on it now? there are different BIOS versions from Gigabyte out there, if it´s e.g. F10 you have to get F1X and if F1 or F2 it should be FX (one number behind the F)

I would use MSI Afterburner for fan and general GPU control, honestly, less bloatware'y than any vendor tool. Set it to autorun in tray. As explained above, this is normal for every modern card since at least the GTX 1000 series and won't be resolved any other way.
