Far Cry 3 LOW FPS

Hey all,
My systems specs are as follows:
G31MXK 2.0
Q6600 @ 3.3ghz
4gb Ram
XFX 7870

The problem is that I'm only getting about 25-35fps in multiplayer/singleplayer. The settings are on Very High at 1080p with MSAA off. I keep seeing that I should be getting about 60fps. Now I know everyone will say that the processor is bottle-necking the card, but I checked the CPU usage and it never goes above 70% in windows task manager. The drivers I am using are the 12.11 Beta drivers, which supposedly boosts performance for far cry 3.

You keep seeing? Did you try lowering settings?

I looked over different forums, and everyone with a 7870 is averaging 60+fps on FC3 with Ultra settings. Mine are only on Very high and im still getting half of the FPS.

According to benchmarks, looks pretty normal.

What's your GPU usage like?

Im not sure what the GPU usage is. Which program would you recommend to decipher that? Im currently using MSI Afterburner just to see my FPS.

EDIT: I used MSI afterburner to look at my GPU usage, it fluctuates between 70-80%. CPU usage is about 75%.

Well, it means your CPU is reducing the performance by ~20%. I doubt you can do anything about it, as you've already have it overclocked.

Well after tweaking more settings, the GPU usage is down to about 50-60%. Even with lowering video quality and video size settings it still doesnt change. So obviously I have a bottleneck. Luckily, im getting my 3570k setup for christmas! Thanks again guys.

You can increase graphics settings, so the graphics card has more to do. That will alleviate the bottleneck.

ATM its on Ultra quality, and 1600x900. Getting about 60% usage. If I throw it up to 1920x1080, usage goes up to about 70% but the FPS drop down. Hopefully this new setup increases my FPS.

Ultra? Are you sure there's such setting? Just got it today: very high option is the highest for me.

CPU is getting a little dated and most new games will probably be better off with at least 8GB ram......
Video card is still good....

Also the upcoming 12.11 AMD drivers promise significant "single GPU performance updates for Far Cry 3" and other titles amongst it....

I will wait until the FULL NON- BETA are released (currently in Beta 4) Hopefully before Xmas and re-test......

If I was you though I would get a new mobo-CPU-RAM combo as a XMAS present.......

You can install HiAlgoBoost from hialgo.com and see results. It should increase your fps by 50% during motion.
