First of all, system specs:

>AMF FX-8350 (stock speeds)
>CoolerMaster Hyper TX3 EVO
>GIGABYTE 970A-DS3P
>GIGABYTE R9 390 (Stock speeds)
>2x 4GB Kingston Hyperx Fury 1600MHz
>XFX TS 650W 80+Bronze

Ok, so I got this rig a while back and been playing current gen games on max or close to it on 1080p usually never dipping bellow 40fps and my temps never going higher then 61º(CPU) and 72º(GPU), and now I decide to go back and play FC3, which I ran 2 years ago on my crappy laptop just fine (on low, granted, but just fine) and just main menu of the game shoots all my speeds and temps to previously unregistered highs (73º and 82º, respectively).

Am I doing something wrong? Is CryEngine just poorly optimized for AMD? I refuse to believe that this game, out of all the ones I've played with this computer, is the one to make it overheat to death. AGAIN, my 4 year old laptop which was already lower range when I bought it, ran the game just fine. I remember playing through it 4 times at least.

EDIT: save the "Have you changed your paste?" and stuff like that. I clean my computer every month and change the pastes every 2 months.

Solution
Strange, i have played Far Cry 3 with my Intel Pentium (dont remember which model) and Nvidia GT320 without any lag or fps drops (my old computer)
Well, I think I got it. I've been messing with the settings and the radeon control panel and I used the frame control option to cap it at 60 and now it seems to be fine. At least in the main menu. Tried turning it off again, now monitoring FPS and it was rendering 200~300+frames per second and apparently that was doing a number on my parts, particularly the GPU. I'm back to below my previous highest temperatures.
