Far Cry 4 controller issue!

Alright, I've tried to fix this issue numerous times to no avail. Basically, for those who do not know, when using an Xbox controller (i've read that people experience these issues with other brands too) to play FC4, there are NUMEROUS game breaking problems. The game won't load elements correctly, quest progression is utterly broken (until you Alt-Tab in and out), sometimes the game will just crash on startup, ect.

Well supposedly, the solution involves disabling the correct HID compliant game controller in device manager to get it working properly without all the game breaking problems. And hearing that makes sense to me because i've used 3 different Xbox controllers (360 wired, Xbox One wired, Xbox One Elite wired) with my PC. So I suspect there are some drivers still lingering around and are most likely still enabled, which could be causing the problem.

Thing is, I only see ONE HID compliant game controller in my device manager, so I don't really know where to go from there. I'm thinking since Im using my X-One Elite controller (the one I plan on using for the game) maybe it's not listed normally? After scouring numerous threads across the internet (including Steam discussion board and Ubisoft technical forums) I have also seen that apparently mice with number pads may be contributing to this issue as well. I have a Naga 2014 gaming mouse with a 12 button numerical pad just for clarity.

But I'm including a picture of my devices here, this is a complete grey area for me lol. There are so many, and I have no clue what I should disable and keep enabled to start troubleshooting till I get it right. And obviously I have no desire to play this game with K&M since I've gone through all this trouble.

If we can reach a solution, that would be FANTASTIC! And much, much thanks in advance!!!

EDIT: Dunno why the image didn't show up, so here's the link.

Just because I know mate - me & a couple of others on here spent a lot of time & effort trying to find a solution - there isn't one - its as simple as that.
There's a discrepancy in the way win 7 deals with hid devices & the farcry 4 game engine.
It only happens on certain hardware configurations to which there appears to be no pattern at all.
If you're unlucky enough to have this problem (as you are) then its either upgrade , play with mb/mouse , or uninstall the game & forget about it.

How do you know that upgrading to 10 solves this issue? I don't really have plans to upgrade to 10 anytime soon for numerous reasons lol

That's not entirely true though as many others have solved this issue by disabling certain HID drivers. It works for some, and doesn't for others. But thanks for the help!

But I am curious, is it a huge hassle upgrading to 10? I've never upgraded OS' before, and I love 7 because I am used to it and all my things work the way I want (well most of them lol)

^ I saw that other people claimed to have it working but as I said me & 2 other members on here tried literally everything.
1 guy wouldn't upgrade from win 7 like yourself.
Me and the other guy went to windows 8.1 - solved the problem instantly.
I hated 8.1 - a shambolic os IMO - & downgraded back to win 7 .
I got the game free with my 970 anyway.
I went with the inline win 10 upgrade at Xmas , farcry works fine again.
If youre fully up to date with win 7 you're looking at 1-2 hours download time on a decent connection , 40 minute install maybe from the upgrade option .
It'll keep your programs/data fully intact & backs up win 7 so you can rollback within the first month (you won't want to though).

My win 7 fully updated took around 22gb drive space.
Win 10 takes about 8gb, there's also substantially less ram usage on desktop (win 7 still suffers severe memory leaks on some configurations)
Install classicshell & 8ball gadgets (both free) & on the surface apart from a couple of settings screens its indistinguishable from win 7) but you still get all the benefits from a start menu option that gives access to the ms app store & live tiles (& some of the ms free apps are truly great)

You lose media centre - that's the biggest hit - it has been hacked now & you can get it working again though on win 10 if it bothers you.

All in all you're looking ata few hours to upgrade vs days or weeks of disabling devices, disconnecting ,uninstalling/reinstalling , searching through device id's etc - it'll drive you nuts & I'm fairly certain won't make a difference anyway.

Well I upgraded and Im about to give it a go. I am a little confused though, all my Steam games appear to be gone now, yet the disk space appears unchanged? I guess games would be considered "apps" huh?

Also, I'm not picking up any 5 Ghz signals at all anymore. And my download speeds have went down from 7.1 MB/s cap to 4.4 peak. Needless to say, that is not cool at all lol

OK solved that problem. The old Win 7 driver for my adapter was not working so I had to install the Win 8 driver. So I have my speed back, just waiting for the game to download now so I can give it a go!

didi you have steam games installed on your windows c drive ??

if so its probably dumped them in the newly created backup windows.old folder
they would be in windows.old/program files (x86) folder & you wouldnt have to redownload

move the steam folder form there back to
c/program files (x86) & when you click install it would do a quick verification of the files without having to redownload

I wrongly assume everyone uses a seperate partition (or even drive) for steam games as its what Ive always done

Yeah it was there. But I have some crazy shit going on now lol. I put the files into the x86 location after I cancelled the download and verified the files, but it's still trying to download when I press "play"

I botched that apparently. F it i'll just let it finish downloading lol. I'm so ready to go back to 7

Well it worked man! Thanks a bunch!!!

Well ****, I spoke too soon. It fixed all the other problems, but now it's like my input just stops while playing. Unplugging the cord and plugging it back in resumes. I dunno what's going on now. Controller drivers are up to date

Ok I think everything is working 100% now. It seems it just didn't like USB 3.0 port, working fine in 2.0
