My Game seems to only be using mainly the one core(#0). All 4 are unparked. Its mainly 80% on core 0 and 1,2 and 3 have minimal usage. Im getting 30 fps on high and when i turn it down to low there is no fps increase. My specs are old but i run Far Cry 3 on Ultra and I'm not looking for Amazing graphics on Far Cry 4 i just want to play at a decent framerate on medium to high settings AND ONLY AT 720P. Could the CPU usage be a problem.

CPU: Core 2 Quad Q8300
GPU: HD 6870
RAM: 6GB
blah blah

Solution
James,
Mate, you'd need to help us with more than the blah blah in your system specs. Please list your entire systems specs.

Furthermore the games developers, Ubisoft have been facing the same issue with all of their recently launched games. The single core usage issue is well documented on the www and Ubisoft is keeping people calm by releasing a patch.

Here's one documentation of the single core usage issue:

Thats how Far Cry 4 works, puts most of the load in only one core, and barely uses the other cores, thats why a newer cpu with stronger single core performance is needed. Overclocking your cpu may help you, and dialing the settings down to low-medium will help.

Solution
I might sound rude but when we ask you to list your entire systems specs, we shouldn't be reading part of it down here and part of it up top :) Include the chassis as well and if possible the airflow and the CPU cooler (as I would likely suggest an overclock or tips therein).

😉

Ah thanks + No need to apologize! Just stating something for you to trend :)

As per your thread:
http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2429281/overclocking-q8300.html

I'd suggest not overclocking on it since the power delivery on that board isn't covered with heatsinks.
http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Product/Product_Detail.aspx?CategoryID=1&DetailID=1212&DetailName=Feature&MenuID=24&LanID=0

you could theoretically drop some money for aftermarket heatsinks o the power regulators/mosfets but that just drives the overall cost of your aging build. I'd say use the system as is unless you can get a hold of an X48 mobo now and recycle your ram on that but in this day and age you'll have better luck at moving onto a new platform - entry level Intel or AMD.

Word of advice, you should be wary of the intended use of your system. I mention this since your Core2Quad made headlines with titles like Crysis and Battlefield Bad Company 2 but with newer and more demanding titles an upgrade is the logical path. The GPU could be recycled temporarily though...

Your temps check out fine!
