Far Cry 4 Lagging with GTX 970?

Hi,

I am trying to record some Far Cry 4 using Fraps and even if I play on low settings I am getting about 20 FPS max. I have seen YouTube videos of people recording at ultra using the GPU I have which leads me to believe that my CPU may be causing a bottleneck.

My specs are as follows:

AMD FX 6300
MSI GTX 970
8GB Corsair Vengeance

What do you think the cause of this is? Is my CPU causing a bottleneck?

Why do you use FRAPS? Use Shadowplay.

FRAPS can make a large performance hit because it uses CPU. How much depends on settings. Videos without compression will use the least CPU, but will be very large.

Just use Shadowplay, it makes your videocard the Video recorder.

Shadowplay is the better way to do it. Videos of FRAPS recordings you saw on YouTube are from people running rigs with high-end i7 CPUs.
