On my system I get stutter when I am in a vehicle. Also I have gotten it sometimes when in a mission but always in a vehicle

Could you please tell me your hardware specifications so I could deduce what could be causing the problem? Iv'e played tons of Far Cry 4 and I did experience a very minor drop in FPS while driving at high speeds. I guess you could say that it is a little GPU demanding. The stutter could be caused due to overheating, high CPU usage, or weaker hardware.

They're also a couple of fixes that can be found on the internet, such as:

Open My documents > Open Folder My Games
Open Folder Far Cry 4
Open the GamerProfile.xml file with Notepad
Find DisableLoadingMip0 = "0" and change it to DisableLoadingMip0 = "1"
Find GPUMaxBufferedFrames="0" and change to GPUMaxBufferedFrames="1"

You should make sure FC4 is using all your CPU threads, and make sure no other programs are open in the background. If your PC is overheating, clean out the fans or replace the thermal paste. Try update your graphic drivers if all else fails.

Hope your problem gets rectified soon

There are several places online that discuss this. A couple things to try:

1) disable hyperthreading in the BIOS

2) turn down settings really low and see if that helps

3) try with VSYNC ON and OFF (if using VSYNC make sure you stay above the minimum FPS such as 60FPS for 60Hz monitor)

4) force Adaptive VSYNC ON with the NVidia Control Panel (turns VSYNC OFF if you fall below the proper FPS/Hz synch rate so you get screen tearing but not VSYNC specific stuttering due to variable frame times)

5) PC gaming WIKI tips:

6) the in-game GPU and other buffer settings really affect things as well. Try one each, with TWO maximum, though I don't have FC4, just FC3.

So...
I had the same problem in Far Cry 3, and I think disabling hyperthreading was what helped most. Windows 10 seems to manage the CPU a bit better so I'm not sure if that's an issue still or not.

Not sure if this happens in FC4, however in FC3 it always defaults to my DESKTOP resolution which is 2560x1440, even though it may say 1920x1080 in the settings.

every time I start the game I have to switch to another resolution then back to 1920x1080.

I also don't use extra anti-aliasing as it's too taxing. For me, FC3 really needs to run at a solid 60FPS (on my 60Hz monitor).

I tried to runn with only one 960 and that seems to work just fine in the exact same situation. I think im going to sell both my 960 and get a new 1070
