If you own an ATI card, DO NOT BUY FARCRY. The game has serious problems with ATI cards, and UBsoft refuses to do anything about it.

I would like TOMSHARDWARE to look into this and let people know to stay away from this game until UBsoft acknowledges this and does something about it.

In the meantime, DO NOT BUY FARCRY. It will not run on an ATI card. I have a P4 3.2 HT, 1 gig dual channel ram and an ATI9700 PRO, and I cannot play it due to EXTREMELY low frame rates and it studders and chugs so much, it is unplayable.

ATI owners BEWARE!!!!!

Uh, I highly doubt that, the thread below (at this time) is one guy talking about how the game, he mentions how great it is, and he has an ATI card. I would doubt he would say the game is wonderful if it didn't run on his card. Plus, I haven't heard any other public outrage...

I have a Radeon 9700 pro I play FarCry with EVERYTHING in Graphic options "very high" water "ultra high", AA/AF off. My rez is something like 1048X780 runs with slow downs here and there when there lots of ennemies, I don't mind.

I dunno why it doesn't work for you. But don't tell Ati owners to not buy this game. This game runs on a ATI card.

Maybe it's your sound card. What is it?

Or lower your REZ, it makes a huge difference

i just bought an ati 9800 and farcry runs at 1600 x 1200 with everything on "very high" and better than avg (i forget the setting) for aa etc.

Itchy and Scratchy #1325,Itchy plays Scratchy's skeleton like a xylophone; strikes the same rib twice but clearly 2 different notes sound. are we to believe that this is some sort of magic xylophone?

sorry to break it to you but nvidia cards have been having more problems

they have to used reduced color precision, and the demo of the game couldnt even use pixelshader 2.0.. the retail version fixed this, but image comparisons between the radeons and gffx's show that ati definately has better quality

i dont think Tomshardware is going to release an article just because one persons system doenst seem to be configured properly

I have Radeon 9500 Pro on P4 1.4GHz with 512MB RAM. Details are set all to medium, water high, and sometimes my fps drops below 20fps (usually about 30-40fps), which is fine by me :). However I'm unable to play the game becouse of horrible mouse lag - game seems te react about .5 second after I move my mouse. I have Logitech MX500 mouse, tried to connect it both to USB and PS/2, on PS/2 mouse lag seems to be smaller, but still VERY noticeable.
I have tried to lower all graphics option to minimum, which made game run only about 30% faster, and it still did not help remove mouse lag. Any ideas ?
BTW friend of mine has Athlon XP 2400+ with GF4MX card - game looks uglier than on mine, but it runs smooth and he does not have mouse lag. He has MX500 mouse too. Is my processor bottleneck in this game?

I have P4, 1.7, 512 megs ram and 9800 pro. Games run good on high. Because you had trouble does not justify a post like that. Your just refuse to admit that you did something wrong or something is wrong with your set up and whatnot.
Accept the fact that you are in denial. The first step to recovery is ACCEPTANCE.

Ask questions instead of making accusations

And , what do you consider low frame rate? The human eye can only distinguish so many.

i have 9800XT. game runs like a dream with everything maxed out..

You might want to check your system, see why it sucks.

I have the 9600XT and get 50-100FPS, all details medium. Maybe try not running everything on high. FarCry will bring any card to its knees when running highest details.

What an idiot even though its a TWIMTBP game dosnt mean they have just ignored ATI, they are even mentioned in the credits under optermising or whatever and wouldnt u think that more people would be posting this if it was actually true and even more radical that ubisoft would release a game if its in the state u mentioned?

I think not

I played with the settings more then the game so far. I have a P4 @ 3.3, O/C my 9800 P, one gig of ram, and all the services off I don’t need and I’m not satisfied with the play! Some say they don’t mind the slow down, but it bugs the h*ll out of me forcing me to turn down the graphics. I turn them down, but so for only got acceptable play, but now I’m p*ssed, because the game could look better.

I’m still trying to find a happy medium. I too have the settings to very high, water ultra, and medium AA and paradise mode and so far am satisfied with the play, accept for close counters which could be better. The graphics are awesome no doubt about that. There the best I have seen to date.

Works fine on my 9800 pro....but then maybe I have an Nvidia 9800 pro (chuckle chuckle)

I'm running a 9500 non-pro and the demo made my computer lock up countless times. When I "got" the actual game, it ran perfectly, maybe that was your problem

It's all good ^_^

I'm unable to play the game becouse of horrible mouse lag
In the Far Cry Controller options/Mouse settings turn off Mouse Acceleration and reduce mouse sensitivity. This should solve the problem. Also, if you have D3D frame pre-draw option in the video card driver set it to lower than 3.
