Hi all.
I'm looking to have a new PC built that is very fast, and very silent. I need it for music production, as well as gaming. For gaming, I don't need the most high-end graphics--average will do. I've been looking at Youtube videos of video cards in action, and a GT220 would suit me fine. Of course I wouldn't mind something better if I have the option (and if it's quiet).
My budget is $800, and I don't really need a monitor, but would love to have one since I'm still using a CRT and it's harder on the eyes. Also, I already own a soundcard I like--so that's not necessary.
I haven't bought a decent PC since 2004, so I'm not very informed about who currently makes the best PCs for the money. So far, the Dell Studio (http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?oc=ddcwma3&c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&kc=desktop-studio-mini) looks pretty good to me. Here are the specs:
6GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHz - 4DIMMs
500GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst Cache™
Intel® Core™ 2 Quad processor Q9400 (6MB L2, 2.66GHz, 1333FSB)
16X DVD+/-RW Drive
nVidia GeForce GT 220, 1024MB
No monitor though If I cut corners I could get one, but I'm not sure if I should.
I chatted online with someone from Dell and they said this PC was extremely quiet--so that's why it interested me. But if you guys can come up with a better deal for me that doesn't involve building it myself, I would love to read your suggestions
