Hi all.

I'm looking to have a new PC built that is very fast, and very silent. I need it for music production, as well as gaming. For gaming, I don't need the most high-end graphics--average will do. I've been looking at Youtube videos of video cards in action, and a GT220 would suit me fine. Of course I wouldn't mind something better if I have the option (and if it's quiet).

My budget is $800, and I don't really need a monitor, but would love to have one since I'm still using a CRT and it's harder on the eyes. Also, I already own a soundcard I like--so that's not necessary.

I haven't bought a decent PC since 2004, so I'm not very informed about who currently makes the best PCs for the money. So far, the Dell Studio (http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?oc=ddcwma3&c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&kc=desktop-studio-mini) looks pretty good to me. Here are the specs:

6GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHz - 4DIMMs

500GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst Cache™

Intel® Core™ 2 Quad processor Q9400 (6MB L2, 2.66GHz, 1333FSB)

16X DVD+/-RW Drive

nVidia GeForce GT 220, 1024MB

No monitor though :( If I cut corners I could get one, but I'm not sure if I should.

I chatted online with someone from Dell and they said this PC was extremely quiet--so that's why it interested me. But if you guys can come up with a better deal for me that doesn't involve building it myself, I would love to read your suggestions :)

The link didn't work, but I dialed all of that into the Gamer Xtreme 1000 and it ended up $829. Is that the same as what you got?

This configuration is without any noise reduction options selected (and I see quite a few to choose from)...so I'm wondering how quiet this computer would be without noise reduction.

Looks like a really good deal. However, I'm a little concerned about the 5400rpm hard drive. I'm doing a lot of editing (music as well as video) so I need the HD to be fast.

Also, I looked up reviews for that model on Newegg and read that the computer doesn't come with a Windows 7 disc. Did you get one?
