So I'm pretty frugal when it come's to electricity. I usually unplug my electronics when not in use. I noticed that my pc doesn't use fastboot when coldbooting. I saw an option to fast boot afterpower loss in my bios and I enabled it. Sadly I've been greeted by nothing but a black screen.

Solution
Fast boot... do you mean Fast startup?

The function in a motherboard bios isn't the same one as windows Fast startup

Fast startup won't run if the PC has lost power before hand. The function relies on PC having power to constantly save a copy of Open drivers + kernel in ram, so that when PC starts up its already half loaded. You better off turning it off completely as then you won't get corrupted files when you unplug it after shutdown. If you have an ssd you don't need it anyway, it only really helps on systems that boot off hdd.

Fast boot after power loss probably just skips a few steps in the normal bios boot process to launch windows faster.

Although I'd also like to know why choosing to enable fastboot after ac power loss makes my pc fail to post when the computer gets unplugged. From my pretty elementary understanding of how a bios works, this is because fastboot also requires some power to remain circulating on motherboard. But it's something separate from Window's fast start up. Would that be correct?
