faster boot on an SSD?

i recently got a crucial M500 240GB SSD

boot times after the bios checks is a few seconds and i have been told that disabling those checks speeds things up loads

is this advisable and how would i do it on an ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. P8P67 PRO REV 3.1? (or what ones would be safe to turn off)

Leave it alone, its doing hardware detection in case of changes.

If the BIOS has an option for fast boot, then yes switch it on, to do a less indepth check.

fast boot... what other names could be used for this fast boot option?

also on boot i get something about AHCPI mode (or some acronym that is similar) and no drives being detected and that i should press space to continue (only it continues by itself) (just trying to finish downloading some drivers atm i will be able to check properly once that has finished)
