Question Fastest/Best way to transfer files between PC and new laptop ?

Hello, Here is the scenario:
I have a PC connected via Ethernet to my router (with 3 walls and distance of 20 meters+ between router and PC)
PC motherboard supports onboard wifi hotspot features, so I use PC as a router/hotspot to connect my Tv/smartphones/laptops to connect to WIFI without long distance and breaking internet speeds to main router)

When trying to copy lot of data from PC to laptop and vice-versa, using Windows Network sharing, i am getting a maximum of 14 mbps TRANSFER rate, which is not feasible to transfer 100 GBs of data every week.
My Pen Drive for some reason is not working which I have posted in other topic.

Can someone guide what could be wrong here or help fix ?
Thanks.

Does your laptop have a ethernet port. Buy a small switch and plug the cable from the main router into the switch and plug both the pc and laptop into the same switch.
You could also buy a cheap router and run it as a AP. You would then have the extra lan ports on the router for ethernet connections and would no longer have to use your pc as a hotspot.

Fastest: Bring laptop to PC and connect both with USB type-C cable. Depending on USB type-C protocol, you're looking at either: 20 Gbps (USB 3.2 Gen 2×2), 40 Gbps (USB4), or 80 Gbps (USB4 V2) transfer speeds.

Best: Whatever is most convenient for you.
Laptop and PC can get close to each with distance of around 2 to 3 meters max
Sorry but I did not understood your reply, which cables are you pointing me to get/purchase ?
Both PC and Laptop has USB Type C port and lot of USB 3.0 ports.

If you'd sit behind desktop PC and keep your laptop on your lap, distance would be ~1m or so. Given that the desktop PC isn't in somewhere obscure place (under the desk).

USB type-C male-to-male. E.g this 40 Gbps (USB4) cable, 1.8m long,
amazon: https://www.amazon.com/CableDeconn-Compatible-Transmissions-Delivery-Monitors/dp/B097PT3KZG

Male-to-male cable is needed because both the desktop and laptop PCs have female ports.
Also, do note that if either of the USB type-C ports on your desktop/laptop are 20 Gbps transfer speed ports, then this is the max transfer speed you can get.

I think that brand is not available in Amazon INdia, i will search more and get back here.

I did some follow-up research and it looks like you need transfer cable, rather than just the extension cable i linked above. This is due to reason that while you could connect e.g smart phone to PC via extension cable, the smart phone will act as a "device" while PC acts as "host". But connecting two "hosts" (2 PCs) together may need more work than just easy plug-and-play.

What i've gathered, is that both PCs need to support Thunderbolt 3 (as minimum) or Thunderbolt 4.
If both PCs support Thunderbolt 3, using Thunderbolt 3 cable should create ethernet-like connection between PCs, making the data transfer essentially a simple copy-paste.
It should be this cable,
amazon.in: https://www.amazon.in/OWC-Thunderbolt-Certified-Transfer-Compatible/dp/B09KSV96DK

Also, found this thread about data transfer via cable, that indicates data transfer via Thunderbolt to be quite easy (read the comments that thread has),

Ok guys,
So what I understood is this, if my router supports 1 gbps port that means I can get those speeds only via ethernet cable connected between 2 PCs

Also when router mentions 2.4 ghz (300 mbps) and 5 ghz (800 mbps)
That means of I connect 2 PCs/devices in wireless mode, I will get upto 800mbps max on 5 ghz and 300 mbps max on 2.4 ghz?

So to get best suited in my case, I have to upgrade my router.

Not sure technically how much speed current antenna on motherboard transmits or is capable of) it's a costly mid range motherboard)
I am strictly using 2.4 ghz band on Wifi as one of my device only supports 2.4ghz.

Thanks.

Under ideal conditions, 2.4 Ghz Wi-Fi router can support speeds up to 450 Mbps, some up to 600 Mbps. While 5 Ghz Wi-Fi router can support speeds up to 1300 Mbps.
@Aeacus
Finally decided among this 2 routers (will order those in sometime, will receive tomorrow morning) Both have exact same price:

**TP-Link Archer AX73 AX5400**

or

**MERCUSYS Mr90X Ax6000**

TP link has 1 additional lan port and usb drive, rest of specs are almost similar..
Mercury look wise is awesome, some pics and link attached
Just not completely sure, which is better in terms of software/features etc.
Will replace my Main Room Router with the new one, and old one will be placed in MYroom.
Pictures of both attached.

Read the reviews.

Or "best of" articles, like this one,

I, myself, doesn't have much knowledge when it comes to networking. I'm specialized on PC hardware (internal components) with some know-how on software issues. The wi-fi router i'm using is Cisco EPC3940L. Essentially ancient model i got for free from my ISP. But does what i need just fine, so, haven't had a reason to upgrade it.

Hello,
Just updating.

I bought new TPLINK router as mentioned above and added 2nd router between main router in hall to mypc in my bedroom.
Getting decent constant speeds upto 40 MBPs now.
When clients are connected using 5 Ghz model to router in my room.

I assume this is best speed ?

Depends on what kind of package you have from your ISP.

E.g my package is;
Download: up to 500 Mbps (62.5 MB/s)
Upload: up to 50 Mbps (6.25 MB/s)

I usually get ~42 MB/s download speeds, which is good enough for me.
Note, i have wired connection. But also 5 Ghz and 2.4 Ghz wi-fi networks. Wired connection is for our two desktops, while wi-fi is for portable devices.

I am using wireless mode to transfer data between PC and laptop (which are connected via old router listed above, router 5 Ghz band)
i have bought this cable as well, I assume connecting this cable to router + laptop and then transfer speeds might increase more ?
