[SOLVED] Fastest Graphics Card for rendering 1080p videos (2018)?

Hi guys,

I currently have a AOURUS GTX 1080ti and I’m a YouTuber creating 1-2 hour videos most days. I use the CUDA thing to render the videos since it’s faster. My vids are all 60fps and 1080p. Maybe 4K in future.

Since I do this quite intensively I’m interested in investing even more into my PC to speed up the rendering process as fast as possible. I searched online and it’s hard to find a definitive answer on what I should buy next.

I was considering selling my 1080ti and purchasing a 2080ti. Will that see a massive improvement in the speed?

My spec is here:

Ryzen 7 1800X overclocked to 3.95ghz (water cooled AIO)

Crosshair VI Hero motherboard

G skill flare X DDR4 RAM @ 3200mhz

850w power supply

Gigabyte AORUS GTX 1080ti Graphics Card

WD NVMe drive 3,800read, 2800 write




What can I buy next hardware-wise to improve speeds for rendering videos and will I see significant gains? Not interested in 1-2% gains.

I use Sony Vegas pro 13 and will be upgrading to 15 pro shortly with some adjusted render settings. But here I am asking about hardware.

How much ram do you have? 32-64gb can give performance benefits.
Probably not much to be gained from a different graphics card.

I watched a Linus tech tips video and it said increasing to 32gb only gives minimal benefit. Is that true?

Depends on the size of the project. From what I saw if you do 4k video it makes a significant improvment.
