Hi,

Looking for the fastest possible storage so windows boots like a demon!!! Currently using the following

SSD : SSDNow
Processor : I7 4970k
Ram : 32gb DDR 3
MotherBoard : Maximus Hero VII
GFX : Msi 970 GTX

I was looking at the SM951 SSD But I have no idea or can find the information if it will work in my motherboard/setup.

Any advice please :)?

well NVMe SSD are quite fast but expensive.
there is also M.2 PCIx4 thats also pretty fast
sata based M.2 which is fast enough
and sata based SSD's
if you have the budget a PCI-E x1 SSD should do

i would say get an M.2 based SSD should boot in 10 seconds or less (tested on an MSI Z97 gaming 5 with fast boot enabled)

1. I just relate fast boot time to a fast hard drive.
2. I would be happy with just 128 with the OS on it. 256 if affordable
3. It's a maximus hero vii (I thought all SSD was sata until tonight... I'm not amazing with tech so Unsure what it takes...)
4. £100 gbp

If you already have a decent SSD, you won't be able to really tell the difference in loading speeds without a stopwatch. The hassle of paying more money, then having to re-install Windows or do a clone and restore to it, not worth it at all. Buy a homeless person lunch for a month instead of a faster SSD.

Very fitly written. I, too, needed to be reminded of this.
