Question Fatal Error/Hardware Failure in Prime95/Intel Burn

Hey all, new here and require some help with my build. First I’ll list the build:

Ryzen 3100
Asrock B450 Pro4F
8GB TF Delta 2 RaM
Kingston 256GB NVME
500W Thermaltake Smart
Gigabyte R9 380 (GPU shortage)
NOT OVERCLOCKED

with all this said, last Pc I built was a P4 so I’m learning as I go! Anyways the problem I’m having is when I run stability tests they always fail. I’ve run Aida/Prime/Intel Burn and it always stops with a hardware failure. Almost instantly. Funny enough it has no issue with the Prime 95 Small FTT test but fails Large and Blend.

I’ve run memtest for 8 hours with NO errors. Please help! The error I get is rounding is 0.5 when it should be 0.4? Or something like that.

SOLUTION: New QVL RAM !! TF ram has compatibility issues for some reason.

Have you checked Asrock website to see if there are bios updates that might fix the issue you describe ?

Does other software runs without problems ?

Have you tried to monitor temperatures when you run tests (those that does not end with error) ?

Also - you can try to run OCCT benchmark (if it can complete) that can show graphs of temperatures and voltages across the system.

Bios is up to date.

It seems to run okay. It has crashed running pass mark so I’m assuming it will crash when the system is being taxed (ex. Gaming).

Temperatures are ok. It sits at 45C at idle and 80-83C when under 100% load. It definitely doesn’t seem like a heat related issue.

I will try OCCT now.

Running OCCT and 2 minutes in there’s a plethora of errors (10 errors found on physical core #0, #1,#2

temperature is only at 72C and stable.

Ok, so with that, I'd boil it down to probably failure of CPU or motherboard.

In older bios menus at least, there used to be an option for loading "fail safe options" or similar. Have a look if your motherboard bios menu have a similar options, as to rule out any weird/funny settings that make the system unstable.

Can you describe exactly how your PC behaves when it's failing? I'd like to know everything I'd be able to observe if I was in the same room instead of over the internet.

It may or not be that. I’m just hoping to diagnose it properly. From my research it seems like the cpu isn’t getting enough power? Or the ram isn’t compatible?. It instantly fails the Large FTT test but runs the Small FTT without issue. I would assume the cpu is fine in that case, right? Large FTT bench measures ram and ram controller I believe. Hopefully someone who knows more can chime in. I hope it’s a simple fix. In the mean time I’m going to try another pair of RAM.

It actually behaves normally. No visible slow down. I tried testing the ram specifically and it blue screened. I’m going to try again and see if that was a 1 off.

EDIT: maybe it was coincidental but ram benchmark through pass mark didn’t blue screen.

I just had a look on your images of OCCT. Wasn't you able to take real screenshots from Windows? Those images was blurry and not easy to read.

I think I'd focus on what's going on with the RAM. It's a lot less of pain to replace RAM than pretty much anything else, so it would be nice if that was a key factor in your issues. This might be a good opportunity to get a nice, new 2x8 kit of decently fast RAM, which Ryzen can utilize well. I'd also be looking to upgrade from that PSU long term, but I don't think it's the direct issue here.

Agreed. I ordered a new pair. I hate throwing parts at things so I was hoping to diagnose this instability.

New ram fixed the issue. I guess there was an incompatibility with the TF ram. If you’re getting rounding errors, try QVL ram!!
