Hello!
we are running our app in 2 machines with windows 98. We developed the app
in Visual C++ 6.0. We have run the app in 2 machines and this work fine. But,
when We run the thunderbird 1.0.2 in the first machine after the execution
our app, windows get the message described in subject. In the other hand, in
second machine we run thunderbird 1.0.2 and didn't get error. I had been
seeing the differences in 2 machines. The first machine has windows 98
4.10.1998 and the second has windows 98 4.10.2222. I saw that one
update(890175) in second machine wasn't in first machine. Then, I get this
from windows update site and installed. But, occurred the same thing. Someone
knows what is happening? How can I resolve this?

Thanks in advance.
Paulo Eduardo.

Just to rule it out, check to see if KB891711 is installed on the
problem machine. If so, uninstall it. Does that help? KB891711, issued
last month for Win9x, is known to cause this problem in many machines.
Thus far, the reason is unknown as is why it affects some machines and
not others. Just have to wait for MS to create a new version.

See http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms05-002.mspx for
information about what that patch addresses. It's a nasty vulnerability
and it *is* being exploited quite a bit right now. Be sure to have AV
and anti-spyware apps fully in place, and set email clients to read in
Plain Text Only.
