This is a build that is in progress (10/14 components purchased) and will be aimed toward gaming, school work, casual web browsing, perhaps streaming, etc. I know a lot of you are going to say "get an SSD," but I'm not going to at the moment because I'm waiting for prices to decrease and will buy one as soon as I'm ready. I'm open to any suggestions (other than get an SSD). Also if you've read my recent thread in the "Cases" section of the forum, you know that I'm in a bit of pickle deciding between the Corsair 650D and the BitFenix Colossus. All I want to know is which is better. THIS IS A STRICTLY RED AND BLACK THEMED BUILD!

HD - $90 - WD Black 1 TB...

For 1500, I can squeeze in 2x gtx 770s in sli. Don't ask me how, I just know I can do it (legally of course). Maybe you should rethink some parts and see if you can do it as well.

I have no need for Dual SLI 770's.

Get some components from redflagdeals (people selling sealed stuff) or similar websites. That way I avoid tax. Get the rest from ncix.com and/or canadacomputers.com (2 stores where I live).

I got my 4770k sealed from some asian dude off this legit website (TAX FREE!!). Of course, you gotta make sure not to trade with shady people. You use your judgement there.

The case is purely based on aesthetic and personal experience (my friend has one and I play on his comp. all the time and love the look of the case and it is very quiet). As for the MoBo, the build is strictly red and black. I'd looked at the MSI gaming MoBos and heard mixed things about them so I went with the Asus Maximus VI Hero based off stellar reviews and I've had good personal experience with Asus products. Plus it looks ****ing awesome!

No prob I'll delete 2 of em.

Nevermind can't delete em.

Both Mobo manfacturers have about the same failure rate.... I prefer Asus on the hi end and MSI in the $130 - $220 range based upon feature comparisons

http://technewspedia.com/failure-rate-of-pc-components-october-2012/

Without further ado, here the list sorted from highest to lowest (higher means higher failure rate):

Motherboards

ASUS: 2.34%
MSI: 2.24%

Cases are in many instances selected solely based upon aesthetics. Of the 2 listed Id recommend the Corsair, tho I prefer the 500R over the 650D

I saw the 500R and didn't really like the look of it.

Do you mean you could fit SLI 770's into this build or into an entirely new build?

Wait..
Sorry man, Corsair Vengeance is good.
I don't read really well.
I'm dealing with so much stress.
But you can go with Crucial Ballistix if you want to, it's one of my favourite brands.

Me too..... newegg pictures are cheesy looking...... First time I used was when someone had it on their build list and asked me to build for him. Then it arrived and I was like wow..... it did live up to all the reviews and then some.

The motherboard you picked supports sli, it is the same mother I am using right now in fact ( Asus Maximus VI Hero). I would basically try to cut corners here and there. Get some stuff without tax (from people selling stuff sealed). Then somehow fit the 770 sli in there. I know I can do it EASILY with 1500$ in Toronto Canada.

Can you make a theoretical $1500-$1600 build that fits dual SLI 770's and the Maximus VI Hero on PCPartPicker and link it here as a reply?
