I know I spent way too much time working on the Fathom playfield.
The other day I was taking a break and I went down to watch a little TV.
The show started up.. "That '70's Show" which the guys at work call "The Hot
Donna Show"
Well... the opening credits came up with them all singing in the car with
the names on the bottom and my jaw dropped. There it is... The font from the
Fathom playfield!!

Next time you are watching the show you can take a look and see. Is it a
coincidence? Is there an old Bally employee now working and reusing an old
font?? Or maybe I just spent too much time on it and I'm seeing things..

Hey Greg!

How ya doin'? Hope all is well up there.

Hey, which font are you referring to? "That '70s Show" is my absolute
FAVORITE TV show, being that that was my teen era as well. I've never
noticed the Fathom font. Are you referring to the title font?

The font was most likely not invented by he Bally artist. The letters
didn't have fishy-looking scales on them too like Fathom, did they?
Without the scales they are just 'curvy balloon' letters to me.
I also see a font being used now and most people probably think it's
new, but I remember if from the credits of the old Batman tv show.
Hmmm now I gotta research and see what the font is called...

The font used on the playfield for all the black lettering is the same as
the font on the 70's show where it is used in yellow for the actual names of
the actors. On the show it comes up at the beginning on the lower part of
the screen while the people are in the car singing.
