[SOLVED] Faulty audio port on Asrock Fatal1ty b450 Gaming-ITX/AC?

I'm building a new PC and everything's fine except I get only one audio channel out off the rear jack Port (the green One).
I really need the PC up and running, so before asking for a refund or replacement on the mobo I'm trying everything else.

Troubleshooted like this:
- front panel audio works perfect. Bluetooth sound devices too.
- tried with 2 different headphones and 1 different 2.1 speaker system
- tried changing everything in every settings panel related to sound.
- tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers.
- updated BIOS two times to latest version (i got the 1.20 out of the box) and installed the All in 1 VGA driver before the 1.70 as suggested by Asrock.
- booted on a bootable Linux USB drive with latest Linux Mint on It... Same situation.

Two things that i can't definitely rule out :
-i coudn't install realtek audio control app from Microsoft store (i get an error, and after googlin seems i'm not the only one ).
- One of the Golden capacitors near the audio port Is slightly bent, seems ok though and firmly soldered (It was already bent when i opened the box, and i noticed It). Everything else seems perfect.

Wondered if someone had something else to suggest.

Solution

I assume you tried inserting the connector firmly, then wiggling it a bit while rotating it? That sometimes helps when mine won't make contact in balky phono jacks.

It's very common for electrolytic can capacitors (like the Golden one) to be slightly askew after soldering so that's not an issue.

Since the front panel audio does work well it almost certainly rules out the audio circuitry on the motherboard as defective, so if it can't be made to work whatever you try as above it's probably the rear panel connector itself that is defective. There's not much to do that wouldn't chance voiding warranty.

Solution

Yes I tried rotating the connector, quite used to having to do that 😉
Yeah nothing that i can do without avoiding the warranty i fear.. I've got a multimeter but i'm not sure if there's a proper way to check if the jack port is rightly connected to the mobo and not broken, without risking damaging or desoldering or opening it.

Yep. And if i connect headphones i get audio just in one of the two drivers - If, in sound settings, i switch the balance all the way to the left, i hear nothing. The other channels are good tho: rear (stereo), center(mono) and subwoofer(mono) :/
