Faulty CD drive

i dont know when this happened, but i left my house and
when i came back either my mom or my brother did
something to the computer so that my cd drive wont read
any cd's anymore. its a hp cd-writer plus 8250i and it
tries to read it, but then the light just blinks
indicating that it didnt. there are no drives to update
this with on the hp website. this has never happened
before so if anyone could help that would be fantastic.

If you have windows XP just revert back to your latest restore point.
