Faulty GPU? Please help

So I just built a PC and everything appears to be functioning correctly it all works
Unless I plug in my GPU when my GPU is in I hook up my HDMI but the monitor doesn't register anything at all I've tried the other ports on it too is this a faulty card?
My build is an r9 270x i5 4460 600w PSU z97 motherboard corsair 300r and 8gbs of ram any ideas?

1) try re-seating the video card
2) try putting the video card in the other pic-e slot
3) Make sure you have proper power connections to the card.

Now to make sure the GPU is good try it on another system.

Do you try the r9 270X in other pcie slot if the z97 has two or more pcie slot? Or other DVI cable, or in other PC? If you try those and the GPU still does not show anything, it maybe DOA.
If it does work on other pcie slot, and the MB may has problem on the 1st pcie slot. And then try to update the intel chipset driver. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=20775 it may help because it comes with the pcie driver.
