Hi,

Thanks for reading my post!

My computer suddenly shut down yesterday and at reboot I have green vertical lines running through the monitor. I also have other kinds of lines during boot, shown on pictures. I can boot in safe mode but not in normal mode.

  • Have swapped monitor, not at fault
  • Have swapped HDMI cable, not at fault
  • Cleaned the GPU's fan which was very dusty. No visual damages. Card is sitting well in the slot
AMD Radeon 7800 series GPU, an old one.

Next step is to get a VGA cable tomorrow and try booting up with internal graphics card on motherboard.

I'm mostly worried that I can't boot into windows, except for going in safe mode. Is this normal when you have a failed GPU?

Any thoughts?

Thanks!
Anton

Update:
I used the onboard VGA internal graphics to rule out anything else than that the graphics card actually is dead. I'm going to buy a new one to this old computer.
