hey guys, tell me what yous think about this, i ran 3d mark fire strike test as im having system issues. Whats strange is i recieve high bench marking scores, but when i stress test i keep getting different results, sometimes i pass but most time it fails, ive tried 3dmarks different tests and much the same issues. Csgo keeps crashing, im experiencing FPS drops and stutters, even my whole system froze and i could not load anything no matter how many times i had to hard restart, i ended up system restore and then the issue happened again and i just recently reset my pc.
im on windows 8.1. Could this possible be a SSD issue??

Well normally you would want to be gaming at the full resolution of the monitor at 144hz, but we need to experiment to see if we can make the crashing stop. If we can do that, we might have a better idea of the problem.

Try with and without vsync, with and without gsync, at different refresh rates and resolutions... I had a hunch that the games might have a problem with your resolution/refresh rate but if it still crashes at 1080p 60Hz that might not be the case. I'm just confused as to why it crashes in games but no stress tests/benchmarks, that makes me think that it's not a hardware issue but rather a software issue of some kind.
Do you know what temperatures the GPU is reaching during the stress tests?

Do you have the latest non-beta drivers for the card?

Do you have a sufficiently powerful PSU?

Hopefully we can figure this out 🙂

Hey thank you for the reply, I am not the most tech savvy person out there but i can manage so thanks for the reply and help : )
my specs
Windows 8.1
intel i7 6800k
msi x99a carbon gaming pro mother board
msi gtx 1080 gaming x 8g gpu
2x samsung evo 850 ssd
4x 8 skillz trident ram sticks
corsair hx1000i psu
Deep cool genome case( built in cpu water cool)

I believe my temps are fine all the tests ive done and whislt gaming my cpu never been over 60 degrees and gpu never over 80. I believe the picture i posted shows cpu temps and gpu temps its not to detailed graph but im still working things out. So far i thought my issues were SSD so i installed samsung magician aswell as SSD Life both saying the drives are fine. ill post here

I also ran memtest only 1 full pass for 3 hours but no errors i will do a longer one again soon. I just ran malware bytes and it found nothing. This pc is not even 6months old and once i first got it it was amazing every game highest possible settings and 4k resolution no issues but now even csgo of all games the fps drops and stutters even though i still got over 200fps ( I use to get more) the stutters make it hard to play and now the crashes have begin. Today it has crashed 3 times during csgo for example ; when i spam weapon scroll swapping weapons really fast it crashed, and the most recent i got flash banged and it froze and crashed, well it doesnt crash as such its frozen and i can alt tab and see in task manager cs go and not responding but as soon as i move my mouse curser towards the task manager to end the program it disappears, so i have to ctrl alt delete and restart. It doesnt matter what graphics i choose the issue occurs, and dropped my resolution to 1080 and the FPS was even worse i believe. I also play rust and it has the same issues, on fantastic settings 4k resolution i get 55-60 fps but drops down at random intervals, quite noticeable, i changed the resolution to 1080p i get 100 fps which drops, then after so long of playing i cant achieve 100fps again. I guess im more worried about the crashing now and the possibility i have damaged hardware, (i have had a few power outages here in recent times where my pc wouldnt work after)

I believe my drivers are all up to date yes, but what do you mean by non-beta? Could this by any chance be sound related drivers as well? Even though i game with a headset?

For a "not the most tech savvy person" you've got a pretty beastly PC! 😛 Did you buy it pre-built or did you build it yourself?

So, does the PC only crash when in games or under GPU load? Has it ever crashed when you're just on the desktop or using the internet or watching videos?

"Beta" graphics card drivers are drivers that are experimental. They may result in higher performance than the previous drivers but aren't yet guaranteed to be stable and work properly, they are still being tested. Can you open the GeForce program and see what version of drivers you have installed?

Believe me it took a long time to figure out what i wanted, and a lot of changing my mind i just had to make a decision, i kind of wish i got a different CPU but none the less i'm devastated this isn't performing how id like. So i choose all the parts i wanted, and got ordered and built through a well known computer company here in Australia. I haven't taken it apart or anything i'm trying to avoid that and i still have faith its all assembled correctly. The pc has only crashed in games at the moment, Never has crashed while just on the desktop, browsing and such even when i bench marked and stress test using 3D mark it did not crash.

Geforce Driver i have is 375.70

Yeah, that's the most recent driver version.

So it's only crashing in games and not in stress tests or benchmarks? That's strange... That really stumps me, wish some more people would chime in...

My monitor is
acer xb280hk

how do i check exactly my resfresh rate? i told you im noob! all i know this is a 144hrtz monitor >1ms or something and its native resoultion is 3840 x 2160

144Hz is the refresh rate of the monitor, meaning you can game at 144 fps and have each of those frames be displayed in a second. When the game shows 200fps you aren't seeing all of those frames each second, as the monitor only refreshes 144 times each second.

Try going into counter-strike or another game and set the resolution to 1920x1080p, at 60 fps and see if it still crashes.

I played rust at the resolution and i experienced crashes.

I just crashed again on csgo one thing i noticed was that my gpu voltage was fluctuating from 1.05 down to .9v

Should i be worried about the voltage fluctations of the gpu?

Ill try that tomorrow im currently running prime 95 torture test on my cpu to rule out another reason.

The crash one rust was at 1920x 1080 but my fps was higher than that, i dont know how to limit fps yet. My monitor has g sync enablee should i turn off?

The voltage will fluctuate under load, the question is how much is "normal." See if it fluctuates as much under the stress tests.

Yes, turn off g-sync.

Oh, sorry, I meant 60Hz, not 60fps. It depends on the game, but I know that battlefield 3, for example, will have video settings that show the refresh rate at the end, so "1920x1080p@60Hz"

Should i be keeping of v sync too?

I noticed just before in display panel my acer monitor appears i click on advanced options and it says generic PnP monitor with a drop down bar to choose 24hrtz or 60 hrtz and 60 was selected. Is this correct if my monitor is 144 hrtz

Solution
The crashing only really begun in the last week after another power outage, i need to buy a UPS. Ive suffered several and twice its left my pc in an unusable state which made me think i have i damaged my ssds? Is there anyway to stress test an ssd?

I don't think a failing SSD would make your computer crash during games. All the data is loaded into RAM before you start playing, it would more likely crash on loading screens or when starting games than actually in-game.

But you could download crystaldisk and check the SSD.

Turned of G sync boooom, no crashes no stutters on csgo, i guess i was worrying for nothing. i tried rust no crashes still has those annoying fps drops but i think i always had that and its a poorly optimized game anyway! As long as csgo is fine, i might put gsync back on and see if it returns. By the way apparently my monitor is only 60hz i could of sworn i read 144hz somewhere!

G-Sync and V-Sync are still new tech, and with new tech there's always going to be bugs and glitches until everything gets smoothed out and it becomes a more streamlined experience. I'm sure what you're experiencing is more of a software problem than a hardware problem, and if it's a game that's as popular as CS:Go, then you can bet that they're most likely working on a fix for it.
