Hello, I have an Acer Aspire 5741G ( 4gb ram , amd + intel hd graphics card, 4gb ram - and it is a neighbour's laptop). It does not boot anymore, altough it is powered on. It overheats and then it turns off after a while. Also it does not display anything. I have did the following: - i have connected to an external vga screen, it seems that still has some signal to the VGA monitor, does not display any "no cable/signal detected", even if it still not showing anything. - i have changed with other ram sticks, and HDD (i have tested the old ones in a similar laptop and they are fine), but still the same result. - i have changed the thermal compound( the old one was spreaded on the cpu and gpu capacitors already) and it still work as in the first place ( is powered on, does not boot, no hdd activity, fan works at full speed after a while then it turns off). I guess it should be the MoBo & CPU faulty, am i right? Also I have tried with other battery and power supply. Thanks in advance for the response!

If it overheated you may need to open it up, make sure everything is plugged in (CPU cooler etc.), take the cooler off and clean it then repaste it. If that doesn't work you may have burnt the CPU/GPU. If so take it to a PC repair shop and they may be able to help you out.

I have already changed the thermal paste on the CPU and GPUs (as well as I noticed in the previous post, that, THE PREVIOUS thermal compound was spreaded all over the CPU capacitors, which it may be bad), and still the same problem: laptop is powered on, no hdd lights, black screen on external VGA, too. fan blows at full speed and the CPU is still overheating, although no activity. 🙁
