So i got for a friend a machine made up with an asrok mother, a bulldozer 6300 fx, 2 gbs of ram (we will boost that up when i go to the US), 7850 and a sata 3 hdd..
So we got it all up and when we hit the power button the cpu kicks in but suddently it shuts off..
Only the blue led on the front panel would light up after that. We couldnt turn it on. Turns out it was a faulty psu. We tried the paperclip trick and it didnt turn on.
So he goes and changes it cos of waranty. Next we install it and it works flawlessly. 1 Day after it breaks again... Same sympthoms . The psu is a 500w Sentey and both psus where the same model same brand.
Could it be some component damaging the psu , or is it just a bad psu batch the shop owner got??
Thanks for your time.

As of shorts, the case has the motherboard lifted by the holes where the screws go. The holes are like pushed apart from the case so it doesnt touch any components on the bottom. Every sata and molex cable are carefully placed not to collide with any metallic thing. As the mother and every component still works fine i really think its the psu, cos if not something else should have broken... right??
Thanks for your answer :)

do you have any spare PSUs? try a different PSU if you can. I dont know much about senty PSU's but personally I only use Antec, Seasonic, Corsair, and the high end EVGA units as they tend to be better built. there is a chance you got 2 DOA units in a row

Thanks, i do have a spare psu here .. i might give it a try.. but GUESS WHAT.. ITS ALSO SENTEY lol hahah
from my last build i spared the generic psu that came with the case and used a coolermaster.. it was a decent decision now that im aware of sentey psus ...

Thats the case.. but ours instead of getting the standoffs we got only screws and the places where the screws go are like pushed upwards so it doesnt short. and no metallic pins on the backwards of the mother touch the case im sure of that.. its clearly seen that the mother is lifted from all contact points..
Also this new psu lasted 12 hours.. i dont believe a circuit making short would last more than a second, at least from my little knowledge of electronics :)
Thanks again for your support.

Yep typical for extreme budget cases. Many modern PSU's have short protection and will not run not sure about your Sentey. I am surprised though that two PSU's go right after each other and could be motherboards fault. You would know if you tried another brand.

But the paperclip trick makes the PSU run without even needing the motherboard... that didnt make the psu work with the first one :S
Now i didnt try it out with this one but i will and surely it wont work either :S

The BRP500 unit is an old design with low output on the +12 volts or 318watts= 26.5 amps split over two max 15 amp rails. I would say the units are loosing a rail most likely from high peak loads on one of the +12 volt rails. Modern 500watts unit deliver well over 30amps on the + 12 volts many over 400watts or 34 amps+.

Actually the first psu went off without even the graphics card pugged in :S just cpu ram and an HDD thats all.
Could it still be because of missing 12v rail amp??

Ok so we removed the PSU and tested it with the paper clip... what the hell. it worked. So it clearly that it is
1) A psu problem where the psu isnt providing enough power
2) A motherboard problem causes it to fuck up
3) No idea... really .

Yeah, still we got the same problem with both PSUs . only a 12 hour difference between one and another and the problem that the latest one works on its own but not attached up to the system.

Basically means that the system does not work, I have actually had a quality PSU fail to run a system even after passing the PC test so it is just an indication.
