hey guys, I've been posting quite a few problems lately, and i think I've traced it back. I recently purchased a new power supply (corsair cx750m) and after installing it, i switched my PC on, and a receiver for wireless keyboard caught fire. It was plugged into the front I/O, and from then, everything else seems to have stopped working.
Anything that was plugged into my pc at the time still works, but if i try to put anything new into my computer, it doesn't work. I have tried sound cards, USB sticks, and my phone. From that short circuit, my display has been picky about when it wasn't to have signal, my computer makes a weird noise, and nothing seems to work. Also, any time i plug a cable into my computer, (or usb sticks) it never works again. like trying to charge my phone, i charge my phone via usb cable to a wall plug, i tried to connect my phone to the computer to transfer photos, it didnt work, so i plugged it back into the wall, and now it doesnt work at all anymore :/.

Is there anyway to fix this, short of buying a new motherboard and replacing all the damaged cables and items?

Solution
Ooh, that's one reason I don't recommend those power supplies. What are your full computer specs?

Hopefully, best-case scenario, only your motherboard is fried (and you'll need a new PSU while at it).
Hey guys, thanks for your quick responses, i found out that everyrhing was damaged from buying an external soundcard, connected it via usb, and nothing, different usb, nothing, different computer different usb, works, my comouter same cable, doesnt work, then that cable doesnt work in the other computer :/ i bought a gtx 980 last week, and there is no way im putting it in my system now. Ive managed to get a refund on the power supply, and im buying an evga supernoca 650w g1 gold power supply, and im going to have to changr my motherboard aswell, no idea where that money is coming from though :/ but since it shorted out, everything in my computer is dodgy. It takes me 20 minutea to get my computer working when i press the power button, the screen just keeps saying, "no signal" then i have to restart everything. My screen randomly freezes, and somethimes hard drives dony show up. Its just problem after problem :/

are there any other types of PSUs that would work? im jjust terrified of buying the wrong one, and having this happen with a brand new system. Also as it turns out, my PC didnt fry my phone cable, it fried my phones battery, it wont charge at all now, with any charger. Do you know if there is any chance of getting compensation from amazon?

Yikes, I was kind of afraid of that happening. I've never heard of wires getting burnt out, only the devices on the other end.

As for Amazon they won't help you, you would need to contact Corsair. TBH you are probably SOL.

As for a new PSU, get the EVGA Supernova 750B2, its probably the same price or less than the other one, and excellent quality.

crap :/ that means that my new sound card is blown aswell :/ literally only arrived today. i think that its unfair that no one will be willing to take them blame. If your item malfunctions and causes damage to other items, then you should be liable.

im speaking with a representative of amazon now, he said that the item was sold by a seller, not amazon, or corsair, so he is checking with his supervisor who is liable, also, what power supply would you recommend in the £75 area?

been chatting away with amazon for quite a while, and after quoting law and consumer protection acts, his exact words were, "maybe you will have good luck with corsair" and ended the chat :/ that faulty power supply caused £330 worth of damage, and i lost every picture of my new born son :/
