Hey guys, you are my only hope, i'm really mad since my work is from home and requirest constant and clear internet connection, and and i get lags once in short durations, i have 10mbs, and would like to know is this my pc who is going crazy or internet provider. i try to ping different sites, and even my router. The REQUEST TIME OUT is the same as for router and other sites. is there any possible way this can be solved? Many many thanks.

Solution
I replace my router every 3-4 years but it depends what one you have. If its a cheap one - replacement is usually 1 - 2 years, an expensive one 200 - 400$ should last you around 4 - 6 years. I dont think it will be your router if a factory reset didnt work. If you are getting request timed out at certain times I would possibly think it is your ISP having drop outs (they will need to fix your connection and if they dont, switch.) Another thing to try though is get a second computer, connect that to your router and see if the same issue occurs, if the issue does not occur on second PC let me know and I'll give you a few links to help you with your network adapters. Hey Andrius_5

Could you send a screen shot or copy and paste the results of your ipconfig please.

How to get results;

Open command prompt, hold windows start key on your keyboard down + R
Type in the run dialog box "cmd" without quotations
Click OK
in the command prompt box type: ipconfig /all
Press ENTER
send in the results and I will have a look to see if you are getting a proper IP first, then we will check further.

Type 192.168.0.1 into your web browser and see if your routers access page shows up. If that doesn't work, cabled your PC directly to your wireless router and try again. If you can, let me know.

What brand/model number is your wireless router please

Can you type into command prompt: ping 192.168.0.1 -n 10
Press ENTER
and please upload the results

Same as above, in command prompt type: tracert 8.8.8.8
press ENTER
and please upload the reults
this is just to see network route

after this and the info you provide, we may be able to find a solution

If what you are saying here, you are getting the same error whether you are pinging an Internet site or your local router, then Good News, is not your service provider, because pinging your local router doesn't have anything to do with your ISP. Is it something local you can fix.

Are we talking ethernet or WIFI?

Did this EVER worked?

Only happens to this PC? you must have other clients int he house.

and brand of router is: TP-LINK 150M Wireless Lite N Router
Model No. TL-WR740N / TL-WR740ND

It seems you can access the internet? Can you please try. Then ping 8.8.8.8 -n 10

If you are getting replies it would suggest something is going wrong in your router. Call your ISP to check if its a PPPoE connection (they will have your credentials). Factory reset your router and see how you go. If it is still buggy, I'll give you some guides on checking your network adapters.

I believe my internet provider wouldnt say anything to me, so its up to me how to find out whos fault it is, whats the average life time of router? coz i have it aproximately 4 years, factory res didnt help with anything.

If you work out other PCs work and trying to fix yours fails, you know it could be a network card (hardware) issue rather than driver, software, rouer, ISP, etc)

Solution

ye will have to try with second pc, when i get one, will post my tests tomorrow, thank you very much for your time and your irreplacable help on this 1.

Hello, once again! :) so i took second pc to test, and it had no interuptions on pinging router,
but when i plug utp cable to the pc which has problems with internet, its working fine. Might it be that this wifi hardware is broken? is there any way testing wireless adapter ?
Ok and i just noticed that when i rotate pc at some point ping is also getting interrupted, i have a feeling that i should dismantle my pc and try to reattach that adapter 😀 am i right? or maybe you have some better solution? 🙁

Hey man,

I would say you're right with the wireless card maybe having issues.

1. Simply go into device manager, uninstall wireless driver. Download the new drivers/up-to-date and install them. Reboot and see if that works.

If not

2. Pull your PC apart, get some compressed air, i get mine for $17.50 for 400g. Take your wireless card out and inspect for anything melted incase it over heated and broke, check for any damage at all really. Spray the pci slot. Put the card back in tightly and make sure it doesn't wiggle. Reboot PC and see how you go.

if not

3. Factory reset your wireless router in case some of the settings in there have accidentally been changed for the worse.

if not

4. If you have a second tower PC with a working wireless pci card you could actually take it out, put in the potentially broken one, boot up and see if it works. If it works then the wireless card is fine, its your pci slot or motherboard that maybe the one with the fault.

Let me know how you go because I have other steps.

Ok i've eliminated the issue ! 😀 i pulled my pc apart, even the monitor... it was one of the wireless cable, because of the laptops constatly closing and opening the lid damage the wire... bough some random one from neariest computer repairs shop, and had to attach to non-standart place xD thanks for your help !
