L4D and L4D2 certainly run on Windows 7 64-bit (I was running both at the weekend), so there must be something they don't like about your system. I know Fear runs on it too, but I've no idea about Fear 2.

I thought I had an issue as well, but the PC version of FEAR 2 runs with STEAMtm, an online activation protocol to avoid piracy. It was a little frustrating, since I ended up having to wait for 4 hrs while it downloaded. Game is amazing and runs fine. After downloading steam (via game instructions). . .go to programs and click steam. . .and then the Fear 2 icon. It should begin downloading NOTE. . .in "steam" settings, be sure and click the highest download rate or it will take like 10 hrs. After its all downloaded you can create a desktop icon and do not have to go online any further after that. (its as if you simply loaded the games from disc).Hope that helps.

Just a friendly note to you who , FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON, don't have a license for your product. . . .

I support this new protocol, despite the download hassle, because I HATE piracy, or people who think they ought to get copied games for free. IF THE PROGRAMMERS AND THE COMPANIES MAKING THESE GREAT GAMES DONT GET A PAYCHECK, WE WONT BE GETTING GREAT GAMES. If you don't want to pay for a pc game legitemately, then YOU SHOULDNT BE ALLOWED TO PLAY THEM.
