Fear of a broken cpu

I had to RMA my motherboard due to broken pins when completing my first build, I am afraid while storing my i5 6600k it has been broken (stored in a small box and it has been away from sunlight and in the dark for about 2 and half months). Is my CPU broken ? And if I try it with my new motherboard could that end up being broken ? Thank you

Solution
I have a friend who did the same thing, in my computer. It bent the pins on the board, breaking it.
But the CPU was totally undamaged, so I'm hoping yours won't be either.
Though the parts on the CPU are much more durable and less fragile than on the motherboard
The motherboard you RMA'd, did it break when you put in the i5 6600k?

The cpu won't damage the new motherboard you put it in.
as long as you're gentle, and make sure it's the right way around when putting it in.

You don't even need to push it down, simply let go of it and it should slide into place.
Don't mean to be condescending, just in case you didn't know. :)

Your CPU probably isn't broken. So give it a test in the new motherboard.

I have no idea if the motherboard was broken by the i5 6600k, I just know the bent pins were causing a problem, I'll see if my cpu works in the new motherboard. I just hope the CPU hasn't been broken when installing it into my previous motherboard or during storage. I will test it this coming weekend and get back to you.

Thanks for your answer
