Question Features to disable in NAS Drive for desktop use

I have a desktop PC with 1 SSD (OS) and 3 NAS drives (WD Red, Seagates Ironwolfs) for data storage. I recently came to know about the TLER feature which is meant for NAS/RAID use cases.

Should I disable TLER/error recovery control for desktop usage and do I need to backup data before the operation ?

Also please suggest if any other NAS features have to be turned off for Desktop usage.

Personally, I would leave it alone. Nothing in a NAS disk will be harmful in desktop usage.
Thinking you are "smarter" than the manufacturer is usually the source of problems.

I've used HDDs meant for NAS usage as normal drives and I've had no real issues using them as normal drives.

So unless you actually have an issue, leave your hardware alone.
