I have a Packard Bell desktop imedia B2216 and cannot connect an Edimax wireless adapter. The driver stops at the same point when installing and cant find the wireless networks. I have loaded thye adapter on other pc's and it works with no peoblems at all.

If the card is PCI try another slot and/or free up resources by disabling unused ports in the BIOS.
