From the Developer's Corner:

...........................................

Beginning May 1, monthly EverQuest fees will increase from the current
$12.95 to $15.95, plus $1.00 per month for every character logged in
more than two times for periods of two hours, 15 minutes or more,
every three days, except on holiday weekends where the period would be
four days. A seven-cent break per character is available for the
months of February, June, and December; however, the break only comes
in to effect if the player's account has more than five characters on
it.

So far, no official reason has been given for the increase.

In other news, April Fools has been declared an international holiday.

PS before you flame me, read the last line closely =)

You are a truly evil person. My stomach flopped on the floor and my chin
hit my chest before I got to the last line.

Seems a lot of people were fooled by this hoax. I heard almost 9,000
accounts were cancelled in just one hour. >< That and the false
merger info has resulted in cancellation of almost 32,000 accounts
before 10 pm yesterday. (seriously? Dunno but a GM said this in the
GM channel)

Because this joke was very costly to SoE, Allakhazam could be sued.

It is sad when people don't realize yesterday was April's Fools and
they don't read the entire damn info just to see it was a joke. I
mean the merger was way too weird to be for real especially
considering SoE and Blizzard would never share the same state, let
alone the same game server. The fee increase was also odd and
confusing and couldn't be for real either. Even a phone bill were
easier to figure out than the alleged price increase. =P

It will only become costly if the accounts are not renewed.

Not only can't take a joke, but can't spot a fake. That's why so
many idiots fall for the Nigerian Bank scams and other spam.

Although people are boneheads, I can't imagine why a GM would tell

I believe he meant GM channel, as in the channel that GMs use to converse
with each other, not the public broadcast to all in game.

Sad to see how many people thought this was for real. Show how peopel

Yeah...I heard about the top-posting asshats..good thing you're not one of those, though,
Zigipha..hmm..that reminds me..YOU ARE a top-posting asshat.

Bottom-posting, with snipping of irrelevant content, is the norm in this group.

And it's top posters like you that keeps the killfile feature from
gathering dust.

I don't killfile top posters but some are picky enough to use the
filter.

Actually, I'd have to seriously question the common sense of anyone who
read that entire post and walked away believing it, especially on April
1st.

I killfile unrepentant topposters. If you do a search for my posts, you
will likely find that is maybe the second time I have ever topposted in
this group. I just don't much care for the rabid attitude displayed by the
person I was responding to there.
