Hello

I've decided that I'm upgrading my game-only rig to Skylake and I would like some feedback whether my new build is decent.

Some key aspects to keep in mind:
- 1080/60fps is my main target. Anything above is welcome, but not necessary.
- my build needs to be future-proof, needs to last me a few years.

Mainboard
MSI Z170A PC MATE - 127 €
I'm not interested in SLI so I think this card will suit me well.
Also has 2x USB 3.1 ports (A and C)

GPU
Already have an GTX 970 which I will use.

CPU
i5-6600K.
I'm assuming for gaming this is enough and an i7-6700K will be overkill?

CPU cooler
Scythe Mugen 4 PCGH?
I don't have a clue which cooler I should get.

Memory
Corsair Vengeance DDR4 LPX CMK8GX4M2B3200C16R
2X 4GB will do for now.
Is 3200 too much?

motherboard: its a good enough motherboard, you promamy wont need anything more then this.
GPU: good GPU for 1080p 60p.
CPU: yes, 6600k is enough.
Cooler: whats wrong with the Hyper 212 from cooler master?
RAM: 3200MHz is NOT needed. anything 2133-2666 should be enough.

As I said, I really don't have the knowledge to pick a good cooler. I will look into this.
Does an increase in MHz have a big impact on FPS?

I just read that some older PSUs may have a problem with Skylake.
Is this correct?

how old? what PSU are you talking about?

I'm at work now so can't give you a answer.
It's a PC from 2010 IIRC with an i7-950 (1st generation).
