Hello everyone,

I have been running a Q6600 + GTX 275 system for almost four years and it has served me well. I want to upgrade because performance is starting to degrade in modern games (Metro 2033 and Bf3 e.g.).

Approximate Purchase Date: January-February.

System Usage: Almost exclusively for gaming.

My proposed build:

CPU: Intel i7 3570k 3.4Ghz

Graphics Card: EVGA GTX 670 FTW

RAM: gSkill Ripjaws X 1x8GB 1866mhz

Motherboard: Asrock Z77 extreme 4

Case: Either HAF 912 or Corsair Carbide 300r

PSU: No idea

The rest will be either salvaged from the old PC or bought at a later date.

My questions are:

a)Is this a relatively-futureproof system? I would like to keep it for at least 3-4 years with perhaps some overclocking and SLI at later stages when performance starts to drop.

b)Will these cases have enough space for SLI and cooling solutions?

c)What kind of PSU would you recommend? (Preferrably under 100$, as cheap as possible)

d)Considering that I am on an ailing Q6600 how worthy is it to wait for Haswell?

Answers to these questions and other suggestions would be much appreciated!

Your build looks good. This will last you for atleast 2 year with any game on the market. I would purchase 16gb of Ram like this since it is so cheap:

You can save about $15 to $20 if you go non modular.

If you plan to overclock get a 3rd party cooler, if not you can use the stock cooler that comes with your cpu

If you can, I would recommend an SSD for your OS - they have come down in price alot recently. 120-256GB would give you additional room for frequent programs.

My recamend is fill all slots dont see capacity. see mhz in board and ram.Reason mhz is the key to achive speed. if board support 1600mhz u insert 1333mhz its waste because not get full speed of ram slot. if board support 1333mhz u insert 1600mhz its also waste of money (1333mhz ram is cheaper than 1600mhz)also u not utilise full speed of ram. (4x1600mhz=6400mhz =6.4ghz) vs (2x1600=3200mhz=3.2ghz). think.
Also my recamend is Buy "TRANSCEND" ram .reason other manufacturers give only 1year warenty but transcend give "lifetime warenty" so no need to warry about problems. Then cost "no more dealer and distributer " because anyone can "buy directly in TRANSCEND.COM" so cost lower then other.
Psu: coolermaster 750w 3years warenty.
u r cabinet is great.
buy 2gb x4 ram in 2000mhz u r board support upto 2000mhz or above. 2000x4=8000mhz =8.0ghz.all games not use more than 8gb ram.

All transcend prodects are lifetime warenty for to meet future problems without money. so buy transcend ssd ,ram ,card reader etc...

I have no idea what he is talking about but because ram is so cheap get 16 gb - i have it in all of my 4 builds and it helps
