Notes:

  • ■ I understand there is only one 980 on there. I plan on adding a second one in the future for semi-decent 4k gaming.
    ■ The PSU is oversized for the above reason.
    ■ I'm going with six cores because I will be running a VM server for home automation and media streaming.
    ■ I'm really not in love with the case, but I can't find anything that will fit the water cooler and still look nice.
So, any feedback on the build? I'll be buying this throughout Black Friday sales.

Solution
I think this is already SUPERB... But is the last $1800 spent on pipes and reservoirs?

1) No need for that expensive SSD...
2) No need for that expensive motherboard.
3) I think it'll be cheaper with a Corsair H100i and Corsair 760T case. But whatever you want, that's apparel..

1) I've used the Pro series for years now and will never go back to anything else.
2) I agree, I've just had a thing for ROG gear. I'm open to alternative suggestions.
3) Thanks for the suggestion, I'll take a look at those.

Thanks for the tip on water cooling option.

Unfortunately the motherboard you linked is a Z97 (which is not compatible with my rig).

For the case, check out the Phanteks Enthoo Luxe and Pro. The Luxe is one of the best looking cases on the market and the best case (along with the pro) for water-cooling that isn't too expensive(even though you aren't watercooling). Nothing is competitive with these cases in their price ranges. Once you get to the $180ish price point, the HAF stacker is a good choice in terms of radiators, but still the enthoo cases dominate when it comes to water cooling features. The 780t is not competitive as the Enthoo Pro and Luxe are much better cases at a lower price. Corsair is not my favorite company right now in terms of cases as they are loosing their quality and innovation, but still keeping their high prices. Honestly if you are just getting an H105 or a 120 or 140mm radiator, you don't need such a big case. A Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 would be fine. I would get the reference style if you do SLI in this case.
Also for case reviews, check out Hardwarecanucks.

Also the H105 is pretty loud, look at NZXT's X61 or swiftech's H220x/240x. The swiftech coolers can be expanded into a custom loop too. In reality, the the swiftech coolers are actually waterloops that are pre-assembled.

Check out EVGA and MSI motherboards for x99. You might like them.

Admirable
I have the NZXT Phantom 820 case, it is pretty huge, has multiple light settings if you like lights. There's a slot on top of the case which allows me to drill some holes and which allowed me to set quad fans on my Cooler Master Nepton 280L liquid cooling. I have 2x 200mm fan in front, 1x 140mm fan at bottom, another 120mm fan from my Radeon R9295x2 at bottom for intake. I have my quad fan and my 2nd 295x2 at rear for out take, so if you want a lot of cooling and a bit of style, I would recommend this case. My case is lit up like a Christmas tree, I think it is a pretty awesome case for style, cooling, and performance. If you're willing to spend $175 for a case, a bit extra $ for this one is not too bad. So if you want to check it out and see if you will like it, I'll give you the link to the specs: Black or white, your choice. Have fun
