I am thinking about upgrading from my 2008 build:
Windows XP
AMD Athlon 64 3700+ 2.27 GHz
3 GB RAM
Asus A8N-SLI
NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT
Samsung SyncMaster 22"
Samsung 500 GB hard drive
To this :)

Intel Core i7-4820K Ivy Bridge-E 3.7GHz (Turbo 3.9GHz) LGA 2011 130W
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
Kingston HyperX 3K SH103S3/120G 2.5" 120GB SSD
Microsoft Windows 7 Professional
Cooler Master Seidon 240M - Water/Liquid CPU Cooling System with 240 mm Radiator
Cooler Master HAF 932 Advanced
ASUS P9X79 WS LGA 2011
EVGA 03G-P4-2782-KR GeForce GTX 780
EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 750 G 80 PLUS GOLD Certified 750W
Will I see a big difference? comments please!

Solution

big ? NO. you will see COMPLETE change i.e. ultimate differnce XD
ANYWAYS what is purpose of build ?
only gaming? then you may wanna change to i7 4770k

otherparts seem decent.
about OS: you may want windows 8.1 rather than 7
also for SSD you can get a 250GB , as it seem you have a good high budget ?

Solution
No use for 16GB of RAM save some money you will only need 2 x 4GB. As for you seeing a big difference....just about night and day difference. Good choice on SSD...

PS: YOU DONT WANT WINDOW 8.....If you like windows xp 8 is not what you want. Windows 7 is the best OS you can get right now.

Honestly, Windows 8.1 is the most current os, he will see better frames from dx11.1, and it is the platform devs are coding on. If you don't like it, you can always add software to look like 7.

The CPU and MB may not work until you update the BIOS. Some Intel X79 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Ivy Bridge-E CPUs.

Go with 2 x 4 =8 GB RAM sufficient for everything.

You may choose Corsair HX,TX series or XFX for PSU better than EVGA.

You will need 650W, if you are not into OC or want future SLI.

GeForce GTX 780 - 42A and a 600W PSU minimum

I would suggest you to stay with air cooler not a liquid cooler.

And lastly HAF 932 is a dust magnet, so you can consider HAF X.

Thanks for all your replies! Niko_boy, I answered you in private...
Idlewitt -the conscious from all of you is 8 GB of RAM..noted!
sosfm-I do plan on using this for work and gaming! Earth to Pluto really funny!
ethanroxx-Windows 8.1 or Windows 7...humm...good point on the frame rates, but are all the bugs out of 8.1?
barto- My budget is good, but right now this build is under 2k. I really do not want to get much higher.I plan on using this computer for future, crossed fingers, work in the computer industry, I do not want any constraints on any work ( video editing, graphics, web sites)
lonewolf7- I have read where a BIOS update is required! 8 GB RAM is noted! One reason I am thinking about the EVGA was the 10 year warranty, if I am not mistaken...750 watts is a little more than required, but if I add anything extra I will need it. Actually I am also considering a SLI set up with cheaper GPU`s. A good air cooler is a great option~ a dust magnet!lol ok! I have been going back and forth with these cases!! 😛

Update! Since I will save a few pesos on 8GB of RAM instead of 16.. I decided to splurge a little more! :)
I changed my PSU to a CORSAIR AX series AX860 860W...and added another SSD namely the Crucial M500 240GB...which brings this build to $2044.90 ! I think this is a pretty good bang for the buck @ a lil over 2k on my Earth to Pluto build!!!

Those are solid/good choices, but after a comparison 5 SSD`s @ SSD review, the winner is ta-dahh ... your suggestion, the 840 pro!!! Dag nab it...you raised my build by $100... 🙁 😉
I also added my HDD to the caparison or the closest I could find, just to see how fast/slow it is. Phew what a bottom dweller...

I do not specifically need a SSD, but since I am contemplating a new system build, I would like a faster hard drive to complement the other better parts. I just can not see getting a faster CPU and RAM coupled to a slow hard drive. I might be thinking w/ my heart, but right now I can afford it, and this system should suffice for another 5-10 years! Plus my old hard drive will be used for storage.Thank you again for the replies! :)

Thanks barto, I compared my Samsung HD to the SSD`s suggested @ SSD review with my HD not even listed, so I used a similar HD,w/ bottom feeder results. I get excited thinking about this Earth to Pluto build!
I am not happy about spending over 2k but, once this new rig is up and running I am sure the results will justify the means!

Also, I know the other guys suggested that you only buy 8 gigs of RAM and I would agree if you purchase a 1155/1150 socket build. If you go with the 2011 build, you should get 4 x 4 (16 GB) modules simply because of the Quad channel design. That's what makes the 2011 special. If you only use two of the eight memory slots, you'll be using dual channel which is simply a waste considering the cash you are spending for a 2011 building.

What I bought: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/samsung-internal-hard-drive-mz7te250bw

Also, have you heard of PC PartPicker? You can find the parts you want and it will search for the cheapest prices on the parts you choose.

Update!
