Fermi size?

so is there any info on size of the fermi yet? i'd really like to buy a lian li pc-888, but it doesn't appear to fit the 5970 (along with most cases it seems) so i'm curious to see if the cards are going to just keep getting bigger or what.

Well the transistor count went waaaay up, so im assuming they will be at least as long as the 5970.

crap! i really like the pc-888 too. but it doesn't have an hdd cage in front, just one of the two main front fans and i'm obviously not taking that out. i suppose with the bigger cards, they are going to have to start making some cases to fit it!

Hi,

From what I've seen, the Fermi cards should be about the same size as the Tesla (C1060) cards. Upon comparison with my existing video / GPU's, they're the same width and length as a BFG GTX 285 card - sans water cooling block. For the height the card - it occupies two slots.

I'm planning on using the butt-ugly Lian Li 888 for my next build as well. Instead of using standard HDD's, I'll be going with SSD's for my build. I use a Silverstone TJ07 with my Tesla card now. On the motherboard, I have 2 - watercooled GTX 285's (lower two slots), and 1- Tesla C1060 card up top. They all fit, but there is not a lot of room to spare.

My challenges that came along with the Tesla card - I needed to upgrade the PSU (1600 Watt Silverstone) - which has a larger foot print that my previous PSU (1000 Watt Silverstone). Additionally, I moved from a Lang pump to an Iwaki RD/30 - that required moving around some components as well.

Sure - the PC-888 handles an ATX- full tower motherboard. For these types of mobo, the card sits (horizontically), well within the mobo footprint, hence the case. Of course, the mobo is removeable - and you'd probably have to take the watercooled cards off before doing that.
For my water-cooled GTX - 285's, I use the pre-modded BFG NVIDIA GeForce GTX-285's. I have 2 sli slots occupied by the GTX 285's, while the bottom SLI slot is populated with an NVIDIA Tesla (C1050) GPU. I'll be upgrading to the Fermi card (C2070 - GB) GPU when it comes out in a few weeks.
