Few Questions about my board.

I recently put together my first PC build, but i ran in to a problem with it not booting at all. I have tried everything in the list of things to check if your PC isn't booting, so i need a few answers to try and diagnose it further.

My main question is this... If i fried the board because of a static problem or anything of that sort, would the board still show any signs of life, or would it be totally dead?

When i turn my PSU on with my gaming mouse plugged in to a USB port on the board, the blue LEDs light up in the mouse, but i get no other signs of life.

So basically, does the fact that the blue light coming on from my mouse mean that that board is still fine? or is it normal for a board to still show minor signs of power even if its considered dead and not usable.

Hi, It would be helpful to detail the components. Are the CPU and case fans spinning when powering up?

nope, when i press the power button nothing at all happens, no power anywhere.

I was using the PSU in another PC before i put it in to the new build, so i know that the PSU is running fine.

Now that i think about it, i havent checked to see if the pins on the CPU were damaged at all. Would i be able to take my stock CPU fan off, check the pins, then put the CPU fan back on without any problems? Never had to do that before.

The fans should spin.
Try disconnecting the wires that go from the case power and reset switches to the motherboard.
Start the board by shortly connecting together (with a screwdriver) the 2 motherboard pins where you connect the wires from the case power switch.

Ok, i just tried it, it did not power anything on, it just made a very quiet small noise, like a tiny click then nothing happens.

It might be a short issue. Is the board outside the case?

Nope, the board and everything else is all inside the case currently.

As for the PSU, the PC i am on right now had the PSU running fine on it yesterday, so i know that the PSU isn't the problem. As for the other parts, i cannot test them in the PC i'am currently using, cause its so old, nothing else will work on it.

Then I suggest taking the board outside the case and testing it on the board's box or a similar non-conductive surface.

Now that i think about it, back when i put the PC together, i didn't know any better and i think i used a really dumb surface to put it together on.

Maybe thats it?

Anyway, ill try it outside the case on a better surface anyway. I'm prett desperate to get away from the 8 year old PC i'am currently using.

If you have a 8 year old PC that's giving problems you need to count your blessings because my computer build gives issues every year.

remember when you are doing the bearbone setup make sure you use a cardboard box or something similar to place the motherboard on to avoid static discharge
